TARGET AUDIENCE
With most thrillers, films tend to be rated 18, as they often contain lots of mature content. For example, the films Seven and The Silence of the Lambs are both certified 18 as some scenes may be disturbing to younger viewers.
However, there are thriller movies that are certified 15 such as Shutter Island and Psycho. This suggests that younger people enjoy this genre and it appeals to them so films have been made with lighter material so its more suitable for them.
However, with these movies it is hard to register what gender that the movie could be targeted at even though thriller movies do have a slight female skew.
